Where Do All The Old Cushions Go?

Given that the global cushion market was worth $3.6 billion in 2023 it rather begs the question where do all the old cushions go? 

Research by WRAP, the climate action group, estimates that UK households had 330 million home textile items, including cushions, towels & bedding, that's an average of 57 per household. 

A survey found that when people have a clearout:

22% go in the bin

21% go to charity

20% to the recycling centre

18% are repurposed at home

13% are sold

6% go to retailer take back schemes.  One of these schemes is run by Dunhelm (we hadn't heard of this until researching for this blog!) and is well worth a look:
